Can NVivo 10 run over Citrix XenApp?

If you’re responsible for deploying NVivo 10 across an organization, you can choose to do this via Citrix XenApp 6.0 or 6.5.

Citrix XenApp is an on-demand application delivery solution that allows NVivo 10 to be virtualized, centralized, and managed centrally, and instantly delivered as a service to users anywhere on any device.

When published on Citrix XenApp, NVivo 10 can operate in either standalone mode or server mode. In either mode, performance of the software is comparable to running the software on the client locally.
If you choose to publish NVivo 10 on Citrix XenApp, we recommend the following:

  1. If the Citrix XenApp farm contains multiple servers, we recommend that you use Microsoft Active Directory roaming profiles to make sure application option settings for NVivo 10 can be saved for each user.
  2. On Windows Server 2008 or later, Windows Media Player is disabled by default. However, if users would like to work with audio and video formats in NVivo 10, you may need to turn on ‘Desktop Experience’ on the server. This can be done by adding the ‘Desktop Experience’ feature via the Windows Server 2008 Server Manager.
  3. When publishing NVivo 10 on Citrix XenApp via the Citrix Delivery Services Console, we recommend that you select Application as Type , and select Accessed from server as Application Type .

Citrix Ready Verification

NVivo 10 has passed Citrix Ready Verification Tests for Citrix XenApp 6.0.

QSR has demonstrated interoperability between NVivo 10 and Citrix XenApp 6.0 in Windows 7 64-bit environment.

Both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of NVivo 10 have been tested on both single server farms and two-server farms, on Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2, running Citrix XenApp Server 6.0.
