Why is NVivo for Mac unable to be opened after installing the macOS update?

NVivo 12 Mac

The latest version of NVivo 12 Mac is compatible with MacOS 10.14 (Mojave). If NVivo has stopped working after installing the recent MacOS 10.14 update, you may not have the latest version of NVivo 12 Mac installed. Please follow the steps below to try and resolve the issue:
 
  1. Download the latest version of NVivo 12 Mac
  2. Make sure the NVivo application is closed (NVivo > Quit NVivo) before you install the new version 
  3. Locate and double-click the NVivo 12.dmg file that you downloaded
  4. Drag the NVivo icon into your Applications folder.
  5. During the installation, if you are asked whether you wish to replace the older version of NVivo 12, click Replace.

NVivo 11 Mac

MacOS 10.14 (Mojave) introduced some new privacy and security features. If NVivo has stopped working after installing the recent MacOS 10.14 update, please follow the steps below to resolve the issue you are experiencing:
 
  1. Open System Preferences (Click Launchpad > System preferences or select the System Preferences icon from the dock)
  2. Select Security & Privacy
  3. Select the Privacy tab and then select Accessibility
  4. Click the lock icon to make changes and enter your password if prompted to do so. 
  5. If NVivo doesn't show under "Allow the apps below to control your computer", click the’+’ icon and then select NVivo from the Applications folder.
  6. Ensure there is a tick in front of NVivo application icon.
 
You should now be able to close System Preferences and launch NVivo. Once NVivo has successfully launched, please follow the steps below to ensure you are using the most recent update of NVivo 11 for Mac:
  1. Open NVivo for Mac
  2. Ensure you are connected to the Internet, click the NVivo menu and select Check for Updates
  3. If prompted, follow the prompts to download and install the update
