Board of Directors

Mr Robert Stewart, Chairman

LL.B.(Hons), B.COM., MBA (HARV)

Robert possesses a diverse background as a director, including working with companies in the information technology, high technology filtration, manufacturing, packaging, telecommunications, and forestry industries. His broad management experience, strong financial skills and legal background provide strategic value in addressing governance and risk management issues at the board level. Recently retired as a director of Melbourne IT Limited, an e-commerce infrastructure company, Rob also serves on the boards for two not-for-profit organizations: ACSRIL Limited, a company which manages a cardiac surgery database for Australian hospitals; and Riversdale Golf Club Limited, one of Australia’s oldest private golf clubs with more than 1,500 members.

Dr Donald Fraser, Non Executive Director

Donald has an IT career spanning more than thirty years and an extensive history with QSR. He joined QSR as commercial manager when it was first established by Latrobe University in 1994 and had significant involvement though the early years of the company's commercialization. Donald also completed his doctoral research into Board Decision Making using NVivo software. He handed on the responsibilities of CEO in 2000 and moved to a non-executive board role. Donald’s career includes IT Academia, Data General and Microsoft in engineering, sales, marketing and management roles. He also serves on the NFP board of the largest organisation in the Australian blindness and low vision sector “Vision Australia.”

Mr John Owen, Non Executive Director

BSc (Computer Science)

With an entrepreneurial spirit and passion, John possesses over 25 years’ experience in the IT industry and is a member of AICD. He began his career with General Electric in the United States, and has since held senior positions with large multinational corporations and specialized software organizations in the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand. In his 15-year tenure as CEO of QSR International, John successfully grew the business from $1m in revenues to a global entity with over $20m in revenue and offices in the United Kingdom, the United States and Japan, as well as Australia. Now serving as a Non-Executive Director on the board at QSR International, John is also a partner in a new virtual reality company, BuildVR, providing solutions for the health market.

Mr Theo Hnarakis, Non-Executive Director

B.Accounting., CPA, MAICD

Theo is a former CEO with public company director experience offering skills in technology (including disruptive technology), global growth and brand management for a board environment. A proven strategic, creative and lateral thinker, Theo possesses specialty knowledge in IT/internet, brand management, intellectual property, and disruptive technologies from a global perspective. He also has extensive experience in contract negotiations, company acquisitions, and debt refinancing.

As CEO of QSR International, Chris is a natural leader with strong entrepreneurial instincts who provides a passion for delivering practical technology solutions for customers’ business needs. With more than 20 years of executive experience within the information and business technology sector, Chris’ extensive background in global technology sales, marketing, and business development has helped grow QSR’s business by nurturing strategic partnerships and overseeing ongoing product updates that expanded NVivo’s increasing third-party integration functionality and benefits. While working for medium- and large-sized companies, including global organizations Cisco Systems and Microsoft, Chris developed a proven track record as a strategic thinker with strong management skills delivering yearover-year growth.

In his role as CTO, Adam generates the strategic vision for all of QSR’s software products, providing a passion for delivering innovation that will help customers better understand data. Adam possesses more than 20 years of experience in technical and management roles, predominantly within the finance and telecommunications industries. As CTO, Adam is dedicated to architecting and implementing high-quality software solutions with a key focus on delivering high customer value for QSR’s international markets. Prior to joining QSR, Adam served in a number of software development leadership positions, including UK/European insurance provider Aviva Group, IBM and ANZ Banking Group.

    Chief Marketing Officer

Tim leads the global marketing team for QSR to meet the company’s commercial goals and ensure that its products provide clear value and utility for the QSR’s global customers. As Chief Marketing Officer, Tim brings more than 15 years of marketing experience working across public and government sectors, as well as with commercial organizations and agencies. Tim’s passion for solving commercial problems and driving business growth informs all his marketing decisions, and helped grow QSR’s global footprint across academic, government and commercial organizations to more than 1.5 million users worldwide. Tim’s experience includes working across the globe in Europe, the United States, Australia and Asia with senior marketing roles at NZTE (New Zealand Government’s Economic Development Agency), Leica Microsystems and Leica Biosystems (Danaher Companies NYSE:DHR), as well as other companies.
